"I'm not big on lavish romantic gestures... it's the little stuff that really touches me.
I have a wonderful husband who understands how I feel. Every day for the last 22 years, he has come home with a single flower -- just one, carefully selected. He took the time to learn all of my favorite flowers (a big effort for a guy who couldn't care less about flowers! lol), and knows all of my favorite colors too. Every day I see a beautiful flower brightening my home and my day.
Last month, my husband was admitted to the hospital for an extended stay. That was the first time there was no flower waiting for me at home, and it really hit home how much effort and love he'd put into it every day. I stayed with him in the hospital every day for as long as the staff allowed me, and gradually he started feeling better. One day he sent me to out to get him a treat he was craving. I brought it back and we spent time together until he needed to sleep.
When I got home, there was a single flower, carefully wrapped and placed by the front door. My husband had snuck in a call to the florist while I was out getting his food! He was still thinking of me even while he was hospitalized. I'm glad to say that he's home again and feeling great, and we are looking forward to many more years together."
