Everyday Romance - Romantic Story: Mountaintop Romance

"We were in our last year of university and a group of my friends decided to sneak away to the mountains for a quick getaway. We decided to check out the gondola ride. When it was our turn, everyone shuffled in, only to realize that there was only room to fit 4 of us comfortably, leaving me the odd person out.

My friends excitedly waved as their gondola whisked out of the station while I stood alone on the platform, waiting for the next one. The attendant put both me and the guy behind me into the next gondola since there was a big lineup behind us. We smiled at each other and made a bit of awkward conversation for a couple of minutes. After I made one particularly bad joke, we both tried to stifle our laughter, but couldn't and burst out laughing. That broke the ice. By the time we got to the top a few minutes later, we were chatting like old friends.

At the top of the mountain, after disembarking, he asked me if I wanted to check out the sights with him. I quickly agreed. Then I spotted my friends staring at me - all I did was smile sweetly, wave, and then (when my new friend wasn't looking) give them a dagger look to let them know that I wanted some private time. They all translated the look correctly and left us alone with a grin.

The day went by so quickly. He was funny and sweet and cute, and the amazing mountain scenery just added to the whole day. I wanted to take the gondola down with him, but regretfully declined so that I could meet up with my friends again (and this time, I wasn't the one left by myself!). He left me with his email address and cell phone number.

A couple of weeks went by and I couldn't stop thinking about him. Finally I took a risk, and texted him. He answered almost immediately. We went out again, and this month we'll be celebrating our 2nd anniversary together."
