Romantic Getaways in Nunavut & Romantic Vacations

The wild and rugged region called Nunavut is Canada's newest
territory, formed in 1999. Meaning "our land" in Inuktitut,
the Inuit language, Nunavut offers an unspoiled Arctic landscape that
is rich with wildlife and stunning scenery.
Although "romantic getaway" might not be the first thing that comes to mind
when you hear the word "Arctic", couples that enjoy the outdoors will find
Nunavut to be a true natural paradise. Take a dog-sled ride, cross-country
ski, or snowmobile... or try something new and sign up for a cultural trip
that includes sleeping in an iglu! In the summer you can canoe or kayak,
hike, bike, or spend the day fishing. Bird-watching is superb and
photographic opportunities abound.
Other unique experiences include the "midnight sun" in June
(24-hour sunshine), as well as 24-hour darkness in the winter months for
adventurous couples who are willing to travel to the northern community
of Grise Fiord on Ellesmere Island. And be sure to catch the display of
Northern Lights if you can - it's an unforgettable experience for
those lucky enough to see it!
The friendly people, Inuit culture, and starkly beautiful landscape
make a visit to Nunavut a trip like no other. Take an adventure and
experience the romance of the true north!
